CRITIQUE #2
the NON visible gallery
This artwork is aimed towards the people of the art world. We all take for granted the amount of Fine art that we have easy access to compared to most people. In the United States most states do have free museums, but not all people can actually access or even get to those free museums. I personally am an MFA student at MCAD and I have access to many many great artists, but not everyone can access that.
This artwork is purposefully placed in a gallery in a space that allows for a high fence. The fence is taller than the average Person in the United States. This fence is meant to abstract your view and allows the viewer minimum access to the artwork that
is displayed behind the fence. This is meant to make the viewer, ( originally displayed for MFA art students ) think about the privilege that they have. This artwork is present in a gallery but is meant to obstruct the view of the art work.
Behind the fence is multimedia art displayed on the wall like a gallery space, group exhibition would look. The works include paintings, collages, and photography. These artworks are meant to be seen normally but with the fence this creates an obstacle for the viewers. The fence is meant to be a representation about the accessibility to see my work, and many other artists.
